Thank you all for your prayers!

Mom is doing better. Her pain is a little less, and she is beginning to walk farther each day (those physical therapy people really get you going). She is still in the hospital, now in a private room. She lives by herself, and wants to make sure she can get in and out of bed, and to the bathroom by herself before she goes home.

Camp is going well, but still really busy. Having a helper in the office has made all the difference in the world. I actually get a little free time in the evenings! This week I managed to get my BOM done, and went to the class today. This next block has 54 pieces! ugh, what a lot of fussy cutting! Also, tonight, I finished my Flag Quilt. I finished the sleeve to hang it, and have the quilt label attached. I will be sending a note to my stashbuster group that I have this finish on a UFO that has been around for about 2 years.

Tomorrow, the camp is going to go see the Grand Canyon. I will stay at camp, as I have 3 new staff members that should arrive in the afternoon, and I need to check them in. Also, It will give me sewing time. (yep, ulterior motive!!) Anyway, I hope to hang my flag quilt in the camp office tomorrow, and will take a picture of it to share with you all.

Also, my oldest son should have closed on his house. I saw it a couple months ago, and it looked like new. I think he might have started moving in today. Wish I could have helped him, but I know he can do it himself.

Take care each of you, and thank you for the prayers for my mom!!

My cell phone rang this morning...

I didn't get to the phone in time to answer it, and as my DH and I were in trying to finish up a big job, I was going to ignore the call. I looked at the caller id, and it was my sister. OK I thought, I could call her back later. As I turned, I got a very funny feeling... And I listened to the message instead of going back to work. My mom had fallen, and her hip hurt ALOT. She managed to get into the house, and sat down in her chair, but then her hip hurt worse, and she called my sister Peggy, who lives down the street from her. By the time Peggy got there from work, Mom wanted to change clothes before going to the hospital. Then my sister made the decision to call the ambulance. Well, the quick answer is that my Mom has fractured her hip. It is just a hairline fracture, which is good, as she will be able to walk with a walker fairly soon (so I understand). It will be painful, but she will not have to stay in bed. I'm so relieved it is not worse.

So please keep my mom in your prayers for a quick recovery, and that the pain is not too intense as she goes through the healing process. Thanks so much!

Just a quick note---

ok, Today my DH and I needed to work on our day job. We left camp, came home to start and discovered that the router was DEAD. DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!! No lights, not warm, nothing. We had to run to Flag to get another router, and then get it installed. Mostly it is all working. The color printer that I use for accounting is still not connecting. And here it is, 1:26 am, and we have just finished our job. Time for bed.

Disclaimer: Any typos/misspellings/etc are NOT my fault. I'm too tired to see straight!!! (and my fingers are not typing too well either!!!

Hugs to all!!

We Passed Natioinal Inspection!!!

Every year, camp gets inspected by a national accreditation team. Our visit was today, and we passed. In fact, we passed with no negative marks, and only a few comments where we could improve (things like "put labels on the filing cabinet" and "spray the hearing protection with Lysol between shooters"). We got our pennant, and will probably fly it below our camp flag tomorrow. We got the last update into our "Standards Manual" about an hour and a half before the inspection team showed up. This is the book we post all our info in, like what we do in an emergency, what our food menus are all summer, our food contracts, copies of all CPR cards, camp school cards, water quality inspection on our well, etc, etc. This poor binder is a 4 or 5 inch binder and is STUFFED FULL!!!

For those of you who do not know, our camp has a nature area, a pool, a very nice C.O.P.E course, shooting sports (archery, rifle, and shotgun (both trap and skeet)). Also we have Handicraft, Outdoor skills, a Trading Post, and a Mountain Man program.

I know I promised pictures, but I can't find my battery charger for my camera, and a new one is like $40. I know as soon as I buy a new one, the old one will surface!!! drats, I wish I could find it.

So what have I been doing? Keeping way too busy. I have the base station for our radios in my office, so I'm constantly monitoring the goings on at camp. (Yes, we heard about the Boy Scout camp in Ohio, which was a terrible loss, and have our procedures in place. We also monitor the weather stations for our area). I also check in all the units, have the lost and found area, sell shotgun rounds, are a few other items. I do estimates and final counts for the food service, submit payroll, and prepare the large (10x13) envelopes for "stuffing" will all the troops records of badges earned, patches, etc. I drive in to town (about 10 miles) to pick up the mail, and to Flag (about 30 miles) to do the banking. And every once in a while, I and some one else will make the run to Flag Hospital with a scout so they can get more care than we give here at camp. (I've not had to make that type of trip this year, but did go twice last year). So far this year, our stitch count is 4. (Yes that is the number of stitches our staff and campers have needed while at camp. We do have woodcarving as an activity, and teach knife safety, but some lessons are harder than others) I'd brag that 4 is really doing good for this time at camp, but that will surely backfire!!!

What do I do for fun?? Well, I had time to read for a few hours this last weekend, and I got to sew a fabric piece to use on a water balloon launcher for Friday's camp wide games. I'm looking forward to trying out the pottery wheels that camp got this year. I would really like to make a pot or a vase of some sort.

Oh, before I forget, in case some of you have heard on the news, Yes there is a forest fire north of us, but it is on the other side of I-40, and we are in no danger from that fire. We do monitor the forest service and take every precaution we can.

Well, I think I need to get ready for bed, I need to work on what my DH calls our "day job" tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting, and leave me a message. It sure would be nice to hear from you!

A quick note to all my friends...

Please forgive my lack of postings. It has been a tremendously busy week here at camp. And we just got our Internet working day before yesterday.

Today is the first day that we have had campers here with the staff. We have over 400, and 450 is the limit of the camp. Yes, we have been very busy checking them all in today, and getting them settled into their sites. And payroll is due tomorrow (I'm almost done there!), and I need to post info signs in a few places around camp. I'm in the office, and the campfire has just ended. The scouts sound really excited. I think this will be a good week.

I promise to post some pictures of various parts of camp soon. I'm hoping to get out of the office once in a while.

I started a new sewing adventure... paper piecing. I've put together hexagons into a flower, and appliqued it on other fabric. It will be a potholder, and is ready for binding. I think I really like paper piecing. No, not for my main projects (too time consuming, sewing by hand, at least for me), but for a take-along project. It's easy to take with me, and easy to put away when your turn at the doctor office finally comes. I'll post pictures of this when I get a chance too.

Take care and do some sewing for me!!

Oooops!!

I THOUGHT my BOM class was last Friday. But this month has 5 Saturdays in it. BOM class is May 31st!! (No wonder the parking lot was not jammed packed when I got there!!) So a couple nights ago, I had a some time, and cut out the pieces from April's block that I skipped, and this afternoon I managed to sew it together. Here is it:
So 8 blocks of the BOM done, 4 to go, and then there are a BUNCH of log cabin blocks that are set with these to make a queen size quilt. It is going to be a beautiful quilt when I get it done.
Only 5 more days until we report to camp, but we will probably go a couple days early (Thursday). I've got work stuff to finish before then, and camp paperwork that I'd really like done ahead of time. And I've got to do a little cleaning tonight, as my son and his girlfriend will be coming up tomorrow. (They will be working with us at camp). Also, tomorrow I'm finally getting the MRI done on my ankle (In Flagstaff). And getting my hair trimmed (I hope - that is another story! - small towns, you gotta love them!!)
I might not have internet connection when I first get to camp. That is one of the things we need to get set up.
OK, got to run, and get stuff done. No more playing for me today. Have a great day, and I'll try to post at least once more before leaving for camp.
Thanks for stopping by to visit!

7 Days and Counting...

Yes, only 7 more days til camp. I picked up a few more items for the trailer we will be living in for 2 months. I'll have to take a picture when we get there. We were so lucky, another couple was selling the camping trailer at such a good price, and they took such good care of it. Now my challenge will be to keep it looking nice at camp. It will be SO DUSTY for about a month while we are there... UGH!

Tomorrow is my BOM class at Odegaards. I just finished the block for May (I still haven't done the block from April!!!). Here is a picture of it...

I had to fuss to get the points in the center to match, and I'm not sure I like the striped fabric. I tried out other fabric we are using for this BOM series, but I didn't like any of the others either. I really wanted another beige. Anyway, my class is at 10 in the morning, with is a little over 9 hours away.

Oh, I wanted to talk about our weather today. 1- Snow. 2- Sun comes out. 3- Fog starts rising from the streets and roofs. 4- Clouds again cover the sky. Then repeat this process - AT LEAST 4 different times today. It was the strangest weather. And the fog just before sunset was so thick, we barely could see the neighbors house. Anyway, I hope it settles down tonight, because I need to drive to Flagstaff in the morning. Pray for clear roads for me, OK??

Oh, and does anyone know what I've done in my settings that I can't click on my pictures to make them bigger? Or can you do it, and it's just me??? LOL

Have a great weekend!
